How Do We Prepare Our Students for the Real World?

Updated: Aug 19, 2018

"If you could change anything about the high school education to better prepare students for the job market, what would you change?”

This was the first question answered at the “FCPS Career and Technical Education Committee Industry round-table” that Dr. Wu attended this week. Here, managers/owners from different organizations shared their thoughts about how to better prepare our high school students for the real world. Each week we would like to share a piece of the discussion with you!

The first suggestion from the group was to:

Get more exposure to the engineering field, especially on how to build a system that works together. This is something they felt students aren’t really grasping. Dr. Wu felt this was consistent with what she is hearing from the schools. Meaning, students are good at following directions, but are not strong when it comes to creating something holistic. It seems as though the ability to lead is missing.

At Veritas Education, we hope to help students learn the importance of focusing their energy on being leaders who build up those around them. In their schools, their future jobs, and in their communities. We don’t want to simply say the things employers want to hear, we want to genuinely live out these truths. In the end, companies take notice when a prospective employee displays the confidence of creating and maintaining a holistic environment.

Do you have what it takes to succeed in the real world? Let us know! Our Student-centered classes are focused on preparing students in these key areas! More importantly, we aim to help students Think Deep, Act Big!
